Qbtech is the market-leading provider of objective ADHD tests for patients 6-60 years old. For more than 20 years, Qbtech has provided objective tests for in-clinic use only (B2B). For the first time in the company's history, our design efforts brought these tests to people at home. The app first launched in Ireland, with the US planned as the next market.

Research, turning insights into features.
Building on usability tests' insights conducted with 15 U.S. participants, and collaborating closely with the product manager, I identified and prioritized four key app features: Assess your ADHD symptoms (Test), read and learn more on ADHD (Learn), track your ADHD symptoms and mood (Track), and get clinic suggestions to get a head start on your diagnostic journey.
Wireframes, focusing on the flow & content.
To focus on the functionality and involve the team as soon as possible, I started with wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes. This approach helped us focus more on the flow and content instead of the visual aspects of the app.
Final designs and launch — Onboarding & key features
Because ADHD is often hereditary, I designed a personalized onboarding that supports multiple profiles (for the user and/or their child). This allowed families to keep everything in one place: Tests, symptom history, mood tracking, and learning resources. With these flows, I transformed the app into a shared ADHD journey, providing users with a clear path toward professional diagnosis when they’re ready.
Design System
To ensure consistency across the application and establish a common language between us and the developers, our design lead and I created the app's design system from the ground up. I was responsible for maintaining it and introducing new components. Learning variables helped us set up the app's light and dark modes efficiently. We referenced the HIG (Human Interface Guidelines) at every step of the way, as we designed for iOS.
Results & Learnings
The app was designed and built in 10 months and soft-launched in Ireland to test with a smaller English-speaking audience. This approach allows us to gather feedback and iterate quickly. Early results show 500+ downloads, ~€50 saved per test, and a 40% shorter waiting time compared to clinic appointments. A U.S. launch is planned in six months.
